Since I took my book vow two weeks ago, I’ve been reading three books at once:
*Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman. I picked this up because this is my “escape” read. I am loving it so far.
*Mabinogion. Because Welsh mythology.
* Arthur and the Sovereignty of Britain: King and Goddess in the Mabinogion by Caitlin Matthews – I read about this book on a discussion board and, so far, I’m really enjoying the author’s analysis of the stories of the Mabinogion. I thought it would be a dry read, but I find it very interesting, especially how the land assumes the identity of the archetypal Mother Goddess and Arthur, through his role as King, is her consort. Some interesting food for thought.
I’ve always been interested in the Arthurian tales and medieval romances and I am rediscovering them. By branching out from the Mort d’Arthur (which I read in college), I am finding more depth to the tales.
But I haven’t finished one of my three books yet. Does this fly in the face of my book vow?
